Transitional response

Andrew Burns Architecture has collaborated with SJB and CHROFI for an invited design excellence competition at Green Square. AB’s proposed building provided transitional massing from the terrace house context to the 21 storey massing of the tower, designed by SJB. The proposal ‘upscaled’ the traditional elements of terrace houses; party walls, palisade fencing, masonry base-course, exuberant colouration and tessellated tiles; suggesting that the value associated with these elements is retained in the new structure
