Calibration of view The Bamiyan Valley is drawn into all interior spaces, extending through a sequence of vaults and into the sunken courtyard. The spatial sequence creates a layering of encounter with the dramatic caverns on the opposite hillside, absent from the Buddhas, destroyed by the Taliban in 2001.
